N95 Respirator – How it Protects you from Sickness

I wanted to talk to you about the N95 respirator because I think this is one of the most important devices that you should own. I know that you think it's just some medical face mask that you put on your head and it protects you from germs, but you have to think of all the dangers out there. I'm sure you heard of the newest problem out there today, which is the swine flu (or H1N1).

The problem with the Swine Flu and other future strains of very contagious and deadly viruses is the fact that we are social creatures. If you live in a city, you could literally walk past a thousand people in a day. Even though a small minority of people will actually catch such viruses, you are bound to run into someone that has it. You don't want to have to sit in a busy subway station with someone that could potentially have something.

I'm reminded of when severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) hit Toronto. The real issue is how fast it could spread around to people in such a close proximity. The good thing is that people valued their health. They put on a surgical face mask to help protect themselves from actually catching the virus. When you're concerned about your health, your also helping out the people around you. Using a simple N95 Respirator mask will be enough to help slow down the spread of such epidemics when they happen.

We may have found a cure for Swine Flu and it will eventually go away, just like SARS went away. The problem is that we are going to have another one in the future. It always happens and since countries are so interdependent on each other, you can be sure that something that breaks out in Hong Kong will make it's way to New York. It's just the way the world will work.

When people are in the middle of an outbreak and are scared, it is hard to find yourself a medical face mask that you can use to help protect your health. It is important to have these health masks in your home today. You never know when the next virus could be coming and you have to take care of yourself and your loved ones.

The reason that you need an N95 respirator is that it is the best the type we have on the market. The 95 basically states that it will block out 95% of the potential particles we want to avoid. It's pretty good, but not perfect. Short of putting on a full mask with oxygen, you're not going to get a perfect mask. The N95 means you're going to get the best the market has that are cheap for anyone to buy.

I just want to reiterate my main point and that is protecting your health. The main reason that Swine Flu and SARS become such a problem is that it so easily spreads around areas that have high population densities. Just putting on a simple mask while you're out in public, should be enough for you to completely avoid getting sick. Plus there is the added benefit of being one less link that the spreading can go through.
